Bluewind Energy Center

The Bluewind Energy Center is a proposed 240 megawatt /480 megawatt-hour energy storage project that will directly interconnect to the existing 138kV Oaks Substation in Atascosa County, Texas. At peak output, this project will discharge the electricity necessary to power roughly 150,000 homes for a 2-hour period.

Project at a Glance

Supports Grid Reliability: This project will store electricity and deliver it back to the grid when additional power is needed.  

Generates Local Tax Revenue: This project is expected to contribute more than $20 million in property tax revenue to local taxing jurisdictions.  

Strengthens Energy Infrastructure: Provides grid operators with an additional tool to maintain reliable electric service.  

Investment in the Community: This project represents a long-term investment in Atascosa County’s energy and economic future.  

Safety

Safety is East Point’s highest priority. The Bluewind Energy Center will be designed and operated in accordance with applicable safety codes and standards, and will incorporate multiple layers of monitoring, detection, and protection systems. East Point will work closely with the Atascosa County Fire Marshal’s Office and local first responders to support emergency planning and coordination throughout the life of the project.
